TIPS FOR WOMEN TO LIVE HEALTHY AND LONG LIFE ON WOMEN’S DAY

Get aware about your prakriti (constitution): As per ayurveda everyone is made up of a combination of three doshas called as Vata, Pita and Kapha. These are the three bodily humors, which are present in different combinations of doshas.Predominance gives rise to seven different types of bodily constitution and three mental constitution. This prakrti represents your physical and mental constitution, and can be employed to understand your nature and recognize the changes that occur due to any forthcoming disease, when there is a deviation from Prakrti.

Follow the dos and don’ts of your prakriti: By following the diet and behaviour of your constitution one can live a healthy life by preventing all diseases and can delay ageing.

Follow Dinacharya ( daily regimen):

Dinacharya- means an ideal daily schedule, taking into account the nature’s cycle. Ayurveda believes that routine is a discipline for the body and mind which strengthens immunity and purifies the body of its wastes. With the help of simple healthy routines, one can clean the body and mind, balance doshas, strengthen immunity and start the day on a refreshing and rejuvenating note.

Follow Ritucharya ( seasonal regimen): With changing seasons, there will be effect on doshasa. There is natural increase ,decrease, accumulation and aggravation of the doshas with the change in season. This change in doshas and season will affect the prakriti and health of the individual in that particular season.

For example Cold, dry weather for instance enhances vata, hot humid climate increases pitta, while cold, wet weather aggravates kapha.

To avoid such aggravation leading to imbalance of the doshas, Ayurveda prescribes a seasonal routine to preserve the doshic balance as the seasons change. For each season therefore, there is a unique diet(aahar), a distinct mode of living (vihara) and routine living (karya). These keep your doshas in a state of equilibrium and help you cope with the stresses and strains of changing seasons.

Follow Ratrichaya (evening regimen):

Ratricharya – means the regimen to be followed after sunset till morning. Night is meant for rest by nature and this is the time when heavier or negative energies are more active. Therefore, Our ancients observed a tradition of offering prayers, lighting lamps, ringing bells as is done in temples at this time of the day.

Purification of the body once in a year : Large quantities of toxic byproducts are formed in the body as a result of continuous metabolic process. Most of these toxins are eliminated naturally by the body’s excretory system, some may get deposited in the various tissues of the body, which causes the vitiation of Dosha, Dhatu etc and then the normal functioning of the system is harmed. Similarly disease causing toxins accumulate in the body as a result of various factors like wrong body habits, wrong food habits, incompatible recipe of food items, suppression of the body urges, emotional imbalance etc.

Ayurvedic Panchkarma (Shodhana) detoxification treatment, is meant to eliminate the internal causative factors of the disease. It is one the most important techniques in Ayurveda and is an internal purification process. Purification can be used to cure diseases and at the same time to promote the healthy state of the body.

Purification of the Mind: To purify the body without purifying the mind is not a complete treatment according to classical Ayurveda. As these two are inter-linked (body/mind) they must be treated together. The main therapy for the mind in Ayurveda is Dhyana( meditation) with Pranayama (awareness of breath) and Mantra therapies (Vedic hymns) is useful to calm the mind.

Follow the Regimen told in Ayurveda during Menses:

During menstruation, activities need to be reduced. Quick warm showers, or sponging (wiping down the body), is the appropriate means of cleaning during menstruation. You should avoid a head bath. A woman should refrain from all sexual foreplay & intercourse. Day sleep and collyrium during the first four days of periods should be avoided. Considered a very fragile period for a woman, this time is to be used to rest and to allow the body to empty it self before it is renewed. You should also not indulge in loud and excessive laughter and talk, nor should hear loud noises. Food should be easy to digest, not too heavy, nor too dry or cold. You should avoid fatiguing work and all exercise.

All these, although reasoning behind them is not totally understood without an ayurvedic foundation, during menses may lead to the vitiation of doshas, which may especially lead to gynecological problems. Woman may observe these rules in order to eventually restore their natural cycle.During ovulation, Pitta is most dominant, while Vata dominates the period of menstruation and Kapha the period following menstruation.

Hence it is very important to follow above regiment to have healthy reproductive life.
