Bio-Gymnema – Standardized extracts of Gymnema sylvestre, Pterocarpus marsupium, Ocimum basilicum, Momordica charantia, Azadirachta indica, Salacia chinensis, Aegle marmelos, Trigonella foenum-graecum, Syzygium cumini, Vinca rosea.
Gymnema sylvestere – The atomic arrangement of gymnemic acid molecules is similar to that of glucose molecules. Gymnemic acid molecules fill the receptor location in the absorptive external layers of the intestine thereby preventing the sugar molecules absorption by the intestine, which results in lowering the blood sugar level.
Momordica charantia – It inhibits glucose uptake by the gut and stimulate glucose uptake by skeletal muscle cells.
Pterocarpus marsupium – It causes hypoglycemic effects through multiple mechanisms like helps in regeneration of cells and has also insulin like actions by release of insulin. There are multiple mechanisms responsible for hypoglycemic effects of Pterocarpus marsupium including b-cell (beta cells regeneration) regeneration, insulin release and insulin-like actions of some compounds isolated- were identified.
Salacia chinesis – shows its action of decreasing postprandial glucose sugar by inhibiting α-glucosidase and α-pancreatic amylase.
Aegle marmelos and Syzygium cumini – effectively reduces the oxidative stress and causes reduction in blood sugar.
Vinca rosea, Azadirachata indica and Trigonella foenum-graceum supports the above mechanisms and makes Bio – gymenema an potent formulation for sugar metabolism.
Mechanism of action – There are some possible mechanisms by which it exert hypoglycemic effects are:
- It increases secretion of insulin
- It promotes regeneration of islet cells
- It increases utilization of glucose: it is shown to increase the activities of enzymes responsible for utilization of glucose by insulin.
- It causes inhibition of glucose absorption from intestine.
Suggested Use
1-3 cap/tab (depends upon the blood sugar) thrice a day with water half an hour before meal or as directed by your health provider.
